Becky, Aunt Carol and I in Gettysburg, PA
Spent a wonderful week hiking with my sister through West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania. At the end of the week, my Aunt Carol and Uncle Dennis picked us up from the Trail and we spent the next two days touring Gettysburg and enjoying family. I am so grateful for the support of my family through this journey, I´m not sure I could make it without their encouragement :)
A simple meditation poem I wrote a few weeks ago on Trail...
Wait.
Stop and slow down.
You aren´t there yet,
not quite yet.
Here, now.
This is where you are,
where you truely are.
Tomorrow´s worries
and yesterday´s failures
are neverending,
passing and changing
each moment, each day.
Today´s to-do lists can wait,
so can the shoulds and shouldnt´s,
and the wish I could or would.
Stop and listen.
Your heart opening,
being shaped and molded
by the precious gift of life,
moving through you,
each moment
each day.
Love and Blessings,
Gaucha
Hi Rachel,
ReplyDeleteYou don't know me but my daughter Larisa played b-ball with Ruthie at NDES. I saw your blog address in the latest NDCL Seasons magazine. I think your Appalachian Trail journey is too cool. You're living one of my dreams so I'm really enjoying your blog postings and photos.
7 years ago my family and I had the "privilege" of hiking to the top of Baxter Peak, Maine which happens to be your ultimate destination. I remember the hoots and the hollers of the hikers that finished their journey. When you finish, have a swig of champagne on us.
We wish you safe travels and we'll keep you in our prayers. In the mean time, keep those blog posts coming!
Take care,
Al Susinskas
Hi Rachel,
ReplyDeleteI'm the campus minister from NDCL. I saw your blog posting in "Seasons". I love it! I especially appreciate the poem you wrote in this post I'm commenting on. Thanks for inspiring the rest of us!
