Happy August!

August is here!
Taking a break from the Trail at home with friends and family. Tomorrow my family and I are headed to Port Clinton and the islands to enjoy five days together. And tonight, my siblings, my cousin and some friends and I are heading to country line dance and celebrate Ruth´s 18th birthday and our beautiful American country heritage :)

Been thinking a lot about family. I looked up "family" in the dictionary...this definition was my favorite:
"A group of individuals derived from a common stock." lol.
"Connection by blood, marriage, adoption."
I´m realizing that this connection is DAMN strong. That no matter what you do, where you go, how you feel, what you say, the connection will always be there: living in our blood and always itching to return home. Itching to connect. Itching to belong to it´s own "stock."

Thankfully I´ve been doing a lot of "connecting" here at home and now to Lake Erie, and a prayer of gratitude and joy for this day:

God, I thank you for this most beautiful day!
For the blue in the sky and the sun trying to say:
"Hope and peace and love abound on this very day!"
In all that we do and all that we say,
In the trees swaying to and fro and the birds in the bay,
In the smile on my face and the sun´s majestic rays!
What a spectacular day it is, I must say!

Note from Photo:
Is it a plant? nope. A flower? Kinda, but not quite. An exotic tree? Definitely not. An enormous butterfly from the Amazonian Rainforest? You´re almost getting there. An AWESOMELY beautiful, delicate and graceful Appalachian Trail Luna Moth? EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (WOW!!!!!)

  1. Hey Rachel!

Don't know where on the trail you are at. Almost done? Almost beginning? Around twice and back again?

Hope you are well! Your pictures, poems, and posts are lovely. Then Shine!

Hope to see you around sometime. Until then, with a bow, many bows, your way,
